Marketing
I have moved into the marketing phase of 'Sandstone Heart'. This is always the toughest phase for me as I am not a good marketer and do not like pushing my product - so to speak. I know it is neccessary, but it is just difficult for me. I would love this book to be successful, though, as I have other stories I think would fit well with the same demographic.

New Novel Idea
If 'Sandstone Heart' is successful, I have a great idea for another novel. I call it 'Deadbeat Squad Alpha'. I don't want to give away the plot too much...but it involves intergalactic warfare and an MEP policy that backfires on it...big time.

Sandstone Heart Nearly Published
It's all in the hands of the publisher now. I have done all the paperwork and legwork on my end. It is tough waiting for the end product to be here.
'Sandstone Heart' started truly back in 2013. I was in the midst of a messy divorce and my eyes were opened to how unbalanced the family law system is in North American in favour of females over males. I had written novels before and it seemed to me perhaps a unique concept to write about separation and divorce from a man's point of view through the lens of a hero's journey. I thought there must be other books that were similar out there. I searched and found none. That seemed sad to me. I thought how many men could have used a book that showed them they were not alone in their struggles; a book that could help them see that there was some glimmer of hope at the end of all the despair.
So I began the journey of creating this novel. I started by interviewing many men (and some women) who had gone through messy divorces and distilling their experiences down to what my main character would embody. There are those who would see my own journey reflected in the main character. While part of my story is in there, surely, so are parts of the stories of every man I interviewed. My main character, Dylan Gunn, is all these men rolled into one. He is many men out there today that are still struggling with our biased and abusive family law system.
Once the interviews were done, I wrote. I wrote like the wind. The book seemed to write itself at times, like it was a story that needed to escape and find its own way in the world. I do hope that is the case, and I heartily hope that men (even one man) read this book and it helps them in some small way.
